Never Travelled on a Train

Women dies at 94

STANTHORPE, Monday.— After having lived in Australia for 73 years, during which she never travelled on a railway train, and after living in Stanthorpe 66 years, during which she never left the town, Mrs. Ann Gleeson, aged 94, died at the week-end. She was born at Newmarket, County Clare, Ireland, and came to Australia in 1865. Soon afterwards she took up a position at Glenelg station, 55 milesnorth-west of Stanthorpe, and in 1867 married Mr. Gleeson, who was a blacksmith at Pikedale station, Warwick. In 1872 they went to Stanthorpe. Mrs. Gleeson is survived by a grown-up family and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

And this one reported but no mention of Ireland.

FRAWLEY, Michael Born Co Clare Died 16 January 1889

(paper said Thursday which would have been 17 January)

Warwick Argus Saturday 19 January 1889

FATAL ACCIDENT.-A fatal accident occurred at Stanthorpe on Thursday last, the victim being Mr. Michael Frawley, of the Severn River, and formerly a resident of Warwick. It is stated that Frawley was driving a horse team with a load of wood into town, when he got crushed between the wheel of the dray and a tree. His son, who was with him when the accident occurred, at once proceeded to Stanthorpe for medical assistance, but on his return with the doctor Frawley was found to be dead.
