SEPTEMBER MEETING CRS- please note change of venue



CLARE ROOTS SOCIETY

Dr Matthew Potter 

of Limerick Museum and Archives

His talk will be on the Marquess Conyngham a major landed family in County Clare.

The Marquess's County Clare estate was mainly in the barony of Islands, 
parishes of Clondagad, Clare Abbey, Killone, Kilmaley and Drumcliff, the barony of Bunratty Lower. 
Mathew has written several books and articles on numerous topics 
such as Municipal government in Ireland, the history of Limerick, the Anglo-Irish landed elite, etc. 

Venue: Maguire suite in the Old Ground Hotel

Sliabh Aughty Furnace Festival in Mountshannon

on Saturday 20 September and Sunday 21 September.

"we are organising a weekend of fun and learning in Mountshannon, Co. Clare. On Saturday, you can play 17th century games, watch blacksmiths and charcoal makers, get lost in a maze or get your thrills at the sword fight.  At the same time, academic and local researchers will be talking about various aspects of the project. On Sunday, you can join us on a guided tour of the furnaces themselves."
