GENEALOGY COMES TO CLARE MUSEUM

Genealogy talk at Clare Museum

Clare Museum is delighted to be part of the 'Welcoming Claire to County Clare' weekend, led by the Clare Volunteer Centre. A talk entitled 'An American Perspective on Tracing Family' by Clare Curtin will be delivered in the Museum on Sat 22nd June at 2.30 pm. Admission is free and all are welcome

Clare Curtin, Genealogist and Historian, was born in Greenwich Village of Irish parents. Clare is an independent researcher who started out casually in the late 1990s while on holidays in Clare. Since then, she has compiled vast amounts of information on her family tree and has expanded her research into the area of assisted emigration. She is a former board member of the New York Irish History Round Table and is presently Vice-President of the Irish Cultural Society of Garden City. Clare is also a student and teacher of the Irish language.

The 'Welcoming Claire to County Clare' weekend culminates in a World Record bid on Sunday 23rd June at 2 pm in the Cathedral, Ennis where an attempt will be made to have the largest ever gathering of people whose first name is Clare, Claire or Clair. Anyone called Claire coming along just needs to bring a birth cert to register and everyone who registers will be in with a chance to win a prize of two nights B&B at The Lodge, Doonbeg, Co. Clare (5* luxury).

ENNIS, CO CLARE

This might not be the usual picture you have seen of Abbey Street, Ennis,
but it is just one of a very large number of photos that are great to see at

This was taken in the 2009 floods.

There are numerous photos taken in and around Ennis... enjoy.

On a different note, the video below absolutely intrigued me. I hope it does interest you as well.
