THE NATIONAL LIBRARY OF AUSTRALIA - ELECTRONIC COLLECTIONS HUGE INCREASE

Image result for National Library Australia

The National Library of Australia has posted about their electronic collections exponential increase as a result of changes to the Copyright Act 18 months ago.  They have added:
·         over 5,900 ebooks - an astronomical increase on the 300 or so ebooks collected in the previous twelve months
·         over 19,000 electronic issues across nearly 1,100 e-journals, magazines and newsletters
·         almost 150 electronic music scores, and
·         10,151 e-map files.

Over 500 publishers have deposited electronic publications, through the National Library's edeposit service which covers books, journals, magazines, newsletters, maps, music scores and more. There are of course some restrictions to access for some publications placed by the publishers to protect their commercial interest.  However one-third of the deposited materials allow for open or view-only access.  Those publications are available to Australians wherever they live or might be through Trove, The National Library of Australia's free genealogical and historical collaborative resource online system which includes content from libraries, museums, archives, repositories and other research organizations   at: http://trove.nla.gov.au/

For those edeposit publications that are not permitted for online access for open view or view only access, they are available in the Library's reading rooms within a secure environment.

THE CROWE GENTRY OF CO CLARE & THE CLAN Mac CONCHRADHA

Some time back, I published, in the section

The Crowe gentry of County Clare: origins and history

Philip Crowe

also

Notes on the origins and history of the Crowes of west Clare

Phil Crowe now has available revised versions of his articles about the Crowe gentry of Co.Clare published in The Other Clare last year and this.

Some informational footnotes have been added relating the contents to Irish history, culture and geography. A number of images have been included: the memorial stone in the Ennis Friary for Robert Crowe and family dated 1772; Abbeyfield House, the residence of Thomas Crowe (1777-1855) and now the Ennis Garda station; the entry in a marriage register for George Crow and Mary O'Brien dated 27 January 1787 which is a critical link in the story of the Crowe family who settled in southern New South Wales; and a Descendants' Chart showing the relationships among the individuals who appear in that story.

If you think you might have a connection, Phil would be very happy to hear from you.

Phil is happy to send copies and can be contacted via me, Chris. You can contact me via the email address in ABOUT ME.. and then view my complete profile...

Here is a taste of what is available... all  can be clicked to enlarge.
