CITY OF KALGOORLIE-BOULDER HISTORY AND HERITAGE .... IRISH ROLL OF HONOUR 1914-1918

Since Patrick Hannan, Thomas Flanagan and Daniel Shea found gold here in 1893, the Goldfields has been home to many fine Irish men and women.

There was a strong Irish community on the Goldfields when the First World War began in August 1914 and many enlisted to fight in the Australian Imperial Force.

One man of note, Victoria Cross winner John Carroll, was born in Brisbane, Queensland to two Irish parents and was living at Kurrawang before joining the A.I.F.

The men listed below, are those currently known to have been born in Ireland and were living on the Goldfields immediately prior to enlisting or enlisted here (but were living elsewhere or address unknown).

If you know of any more service personnel with a connection to the Emerald Isle we would be grateful if you would let us know at the site below....
